What we collect

Your account. Your email address and a password (stored only as a cryptographic hash, never in readable form), plus the username, display name, bio and profile photo you choose.

Your rides. When you record a ride, we collect your device's location — including while the app is in the background and your screen is locked, so a long ride isn't cut short. From that track we calculate distance, duration, speed, elevation and, for motorcycles, a curve count. We also store any title, description and photos you add.

Your garage. The make, model, year, nickname and photo of vehicles you add. For aircraft, the tail number and ICAO identifier you enter.

Live location. If you choose to broadcast a ride in progress, your current position is shared with the followers who opted in to be notified, for the duration of that ride.

Social activity. Who you follow, the rides you like, your comments, and your direct messages. Direct messages are stored on our servers and are not end-to-end encrypted.

Invites. Your referral code and a record of which invited riders joined through it.

Push tokens. If you allow notifications, an Apple-issued device token so we can send them.

What we do not collect

Your contacts stay on your device. The invite screen reads your contacts locally only, so it can show you names to pick from. We never upload, store or transmit your address book. When you send an invite, your phone's own Messages or Mail app sends it — we never see the recipient.

We do not collect advertising identifiers, we do not track you across other apps or websites, and we do not sell your data to anyone.

Who else sees your data

Other riders. Your profile, garage and any ride you post publicly are visible to other Jokla users. Rides you mark private are visible only to you.

Photos are served from public web addresses. Profile photos, ride photos and vehicle photos are stored so they can load quickly, which means anyone holding the exact link can open the image even without a Jokla account. Don't upload a photo you would not want shared.

Flight tracking. If you use flight tracking, the aircraft tail number you registered is sent to adsb.lol to look up public flight data. Your identity is not sent with it.

International transfer. Our servers are in the United States, so using Jokla involves transferring your data there. Where you are in the EEA or UK, that transfer relies on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Why we're allowed to (GDPR Art. 6)

Performance of a contract — running your account, storing your rides, delivering messages.
Consent — location access, contacts access, push notifications and live-location sharing. You grant each separately and can withdraw any of them at any time in iOS Settings.
Legitimate interests — keeping the service secure and preventing abuse.

How long we keep it

Your rides and profile are kept until you delete them or delete your account. Deleted content is removed from our active systems immediately and from backups within 30 days.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account at any time, from inside the app: You → the gear icon → Delete account. This permanently removes your profile, rides, tracks, photos, garage, messages, likes and comments. It cannot be undone.

Your rights

Where the GDPR applies you may request access to your data, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, portability, and you may object to processing. You can also complain to your local data protection authority. Write to support@jokla.fun and we will respond within one month.

Children

Jokla is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date above, and we will tell you in the app before any material change takes effect.
